Unsere Rebsorten - Weingut Bleser

Our grape varieties...
On the Moselle, white wine is mainly produced. Until a few years ago it was even forbidden to cultivate Moselle red wine - except in small quantities for private use. In earlier centuries there were also red wine cultivation and some places, such as Rachtig or Dieblich, were known for their good red wine.
Riesling is clearly the most important grape variety on the Moselle. Since its promotion by the last Elector of Trier, Clemens Wenzelslaus and after the phylloxera epidemics in the 19th century, Riesling has become more and more established as the Moselle vine. However, its special position is not only due to the high proportion of land, but above all because of its quality. On the slate soils of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wine region, Riesling produces wines that both delight the local regular clientele and regularly achieve top international ratings.
The second most common grape variety on the Moselle is the Müller-Thurgau vine, - named after its Swiss breeder - which is also often called Rivaner because it is a cross between Riesling and Silvaner.
Elbling plays a special role on the Moselle. It is considered the oldest (possibly even Roman) type of wine in the region. Elbling grows mainly on the Upper Moselle and is often processed into sparkling wine. The true fans, however, call it the most honest of all wines and leave every other type of wine standing for an Elbling.
Besides some new white wine varieties (especially the Kerner is mentioned here), more and more red wine is being cultivated on the Moselle. The younger public at wine festivals in particular appreciates the often acid-poor, palatable red wines. Pinot Noir (classic) and the intensively coloured Dornfelder (new variety) are the best-known varieties.
Many Moselle visitors take the opportunity to taste and buy wine directly from the producer. Especially the wine road festivals or the days of the open wine cellars offer the opportunity to change from winegrower to winegrower and to get an overview of their offers. These events can be found in the entire "Mosel-Saar-Ruwer" area and the dates can be found in the event calendar. Almost all winegrowers like to carry out wine tastings on request, whereby they not only demonstrate their products to the guests, but at the same time often give an introduction to viticulture and cellar technology.
We are also happy to offer you other Moselle specialities such as: Riesling sparkling wine, red sparkling wine, yeast, pomace, brandy and red vineyard peach liqueur.
